LGBT Community Counseling Program

The Sacramento Gay & Lesbian Center Community Counseling Program offers group and individual counseling in a safe, culturally affirming environment specifically addressing the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals, their families, allies and friends. It is the only LGBT-focused counseling program in Northern California outside the Bay Area.

Call 442-0185, Ext. 101, for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Our therapists provide culturally sensitive counseling services in the areas of:

  • Relationships
  • Coming out
  • Gender identity and transition
  • Substance abuse
  • HIV/AIDS diagnoses
  • Depression
  • Family dynamics
  • Domestic violence/partner abuse

All services are provided under the supervision of a licensed psychotherapist on a for-fee, sliding-scale basis.

The counseling program also provides facilitated discussion and support groups, facilitator training and community outreach and education.

Our LGBT Counseling Internship Program, operated in partnership with California State University, Sacramento, Department of Social Work, and the University of San Francisco, provides culturally competent training in LGBT issues to Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapy students.

You can help support the Center's LGBT Community Counseling Program by participating in the annual Walk for Mental Health.
